China to Offer Afghanistan Tariff-free Treatment for Its Products

AsianFin -- China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Friday that China has decided to grant tariff-free treatment for taxable products to all the least developed countries that have diplomatic relations with China, including 33 African countries.

Lin said that the move was in line with Chinese President Xi Jinping's announcement made during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in September.

China has become the first major developing country and major economy to implement this measure. As one of the United Nations-designated least developed countries, Afghanistan also enjoys the above preferential policy. "We believe this will help promote economic and trade cooperation between China and Afghanistan, achieving mutual benefit and win-win results," said Lin.
